Out Loud
Out Loud is about bringing the private out into the public. It is about smudging the borders between ourselves and others, to share who we are with others, and learn more about those around us. In a city of 8.5 million of people, it's easy to feel anonymous, alone, and apart. But, to adjust an Adrienne Rich quote, when one person tells the truth, it creates the possibility for more truth around them. And so, for our first two Out Loud events, we set up a mic in the busiest place we could think of — iconic Flatiron Plaza — during rush hour foot-traffic: lunch time. While people ate kale salads, we shared our deepest secrets. Thanks to Flatiron / 23rd Street Summer Series for letting us partake. We're currently dreaming up our third event.
